You may have been looking around at all the different types of wedding marquees and Yorkshire wedding venues available and now you want to see them in the flesh! Absolutely the right thing to do, there is no substitute for seeing the quality of workmanship in the marquee itself, along with all the finishing touches like marquee lighting, floral installations, marquee flooring and furniture.
Meet the marquee makers
It’s also a great opportunity to meet the people who will be making your day come together. In the run up to your marquee wedding, you’ll be communicating a lot with the team you choose for your wedding, so it’s important that you are really comfortable that they can deliver your wedding vision.
Our team of craftsmen and women who make a Wills marquee will be on hand during the open weekend to show you around our canvas and pole tents, so you can meet the makers/riggers/tea makers (it’s a small family business so of course, everyone is multi talented!) and answer any questions that you may have. We’re planning a two day, two marquee wedding open weekend from 11-3pm on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 May, set in the lovely marquee site overlooking the river and with a view back to Newby Hall itself.
This is the site plan showing the two marquees, joined by our new colonnades and our new mini garden Wills. The beauty of the colonnades is that guests can move between multiple marquees completely protected from the elements, so ideal for connecting a main marquee to a second tent and covered loos.
At the open day you’ll see a ceremony tent all laid out for the I do’s connected with the main party tent dressed for the wedding breakfast and evening party complete with round wooden bar. We’ll also be showing off our new covered cloakroom so that guests can move from the main wedding marquee to the loos all under canvas.
A particularly lovely feature of two tent combinations is the ability to create an outdoor chill out space with marquee garden furniture in between the two marquees for guests to mingle and enjoy the outdoor wedding vibe.
Yorkshire Wedding Suppliers
Enough about us, it’s not all about the marquee structures! We will be joined at the open weekend by some of Yorkshire’s finest wedding suppliers who will be helping us bring your vision to life and plan your marquee wedding in Yorkshire.
Daisy and her team will be sprinkling their floral magic across both marquees. We think flowers create the most impact when it comes to decorating a marquee. Daisy specialises in glorious entrances and massive bohemian inspired floral installations that are alive with colour, and that celebrate the natural wildness of each flower. We are looking forward to an explosion of colour!
The best in the mobile bar business, Dan and his team will be providing a reception drink on arrival and showcasing a range of drinks including shots of delicious wedding cocktails for you to taste.
Headed up by Natalie and chef Ben, Yorkshire Party Company will be on hand with delicious canapés throughout the day for you to try along with sweet treats to accompany the cocktails. We can’t wait, it will be a real treat!
Award winning documentary wedding photographer Joe will be available on Sunday for a chat about all things wedding photography. We’ve worked with Joe a lot, he has a relaxed candid style, capturing images that are filled with characters, moments and emotion.
Matthew and Marcus from High Row Music are both professional musicians themselves and have handpicked the best national and local wedding bands and wedding musicians. They’ll be providing live music on both days to set the party atmosphere.
Gayle and Anna make the most beautiful and delicious celebratory cakes and will be showcasing some sweet treats at the open weekend for you to taste. Both very passionate about cakes and providing not only a delicious treat, but also stunning to look at with edible hand painting and precision sugar work among their combined skills. Well worth a try, just for due diligence of course!
Instagram worthy images using the Everybooth Icon and backdrop are always fun. It will be available on both days for you to try out and strike a pose.
Fresh, vibrant and classically beautiful photography, James’s mission is to capture the real you on your wedding day and boy does he do that. Again, we’ve worked with James a lot and we’re really pleased that he’ll be joining us on Saturday to chat all things photography.
Set in 40 acres of beautiful gardens bounded by the River Ure, Newby is a truly unique setting for a marquee wedding in Yorkshire. The elegant 17th Century Wren house with its exquisite Adam interiors provides an atmospheric venue alongside the most impressive gardens and even a miniature railway to entertain your guests! Clare will be on hand as wedding co-ordinator at Newby Hall to answer any of your questions over the weekend.
